We rode the R train to Bay ridge pt. 1

  "Alright man, I'll see you."

Nick left his friend's apartment around 1:30am. The apartment warming was great and he was proud of Jessie's success. It's not easy moving out on your own, but winning the housing lottery sure makes that transition a lot smoother. It was early February, it was cold and he was tired.
"I can not wait to get home", he thought to himself as he blew into his hands and rubbed them together before shoving them as far into his coat pockets as possible.
Luckily he didn't live far from the train, but that 5-minute walk felt like an eternity. When he reached the station, he quickly raced towards the platform, as he heard a train. He couldn't tell if it was pulling in or out, so he picked up speed in hopes of catching it and as he rummaged for his metro card, all he heard were the only words you dread to hear on a cold, late night in New York City -- "Stand clear of the closing doors please". The train was gone.
"Fuck!", he whispered under his breath. As he glanced up at the train schedule, he was even more saddened when he saw that it would be another 15 minutes before he was rescued. He walked to a bench, headphones blasting as he patiently waited and waited. When the train finally arrived, Nick approached the edge of the platform as it came to a screeching halt and walked to a seat when the doors opened up just for him. Head still down, scrolling through his phone, Nick took his seat in what he thought was an empty car. Until he looked up and he saw her. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen was sitting right across from him, in a gray peacoat and Jordan's. He didn't want to be a creep so he looked away, pretending to be fixated on something else. The map? an ad? Nothing of any significance, but just enough to figure out what to do next. The announcement from the loudspeaker filled the hollow space.
"The next stop is. 53rd street".
His stop was coming up so he had to act fast, but typically speaking, approaching a young lady alone, late at night, sends red flags. And Nick knew that.
"I don't want to scare her," he thought, frantically.
"But I'm probably not getting this chance again."
Nick decided to go for it. He turned back and this time they locked eyes. He nodded, then she nodded. Again, the loudspeaker rang out.
"This is. 53rd street".
Nick got off, feeling defeated and like an opportunity of a lifetime was lost. As he looked around the platform, he noticed that he once again, was alone.

  1. What was running through the “Jordan’s and a pea coat” donning, young woman’s mind?! Was she scared? Did she know that his eyes were glued to her? Did she, too, hope for more from the nod? I NEED MORE
